Cherry Tea Table, Connecticut c. 1780-1790, Attributed to Aaron Chapin

With its low stance, splayed cabriole legs, and fine construction, this table exhibits the hallmarks of Aaron Chapin’s best work. The round top both tilts and turns and is attached to two reeded cleats connected to a detailed bird-cage mechanism. The legs, which end in padded platform feet, are each dovetailed into a turned columnar pedestal, with chip carving at its base. Aaron Chapin, second cousin of Eliphalet Chapin, operated a shop in Hartford from 1784 until the 1830’s. During the 1790’s, Hartford was the leading furniture-producing center for the region, and Aaron Chapin’s work rivaled that of the New York makers. 27" tall, 31 1/2" diameter. Price: On Request.

Step-back Cupboard, NH or MA, Last Quarter 18th Century

Pine with original dark green and red paint. Wonderful wear patterns to the painted surface. Open upper portion with three shelves surrounded by an applied picture frame molding with cock-beaded edge. Lower portion with raised panel doors. Rosehead nails on back. 41” wide x 19” deep x 81” tall. Price: On Request.

Heart Pine William & Mary Bible Box, Hudson River Valley, c. 1700

The bible box or chest was one of the earliest furniture forms made in America. It held special significance in the home and was usually kept in a prominent location. This rare example has a stepped thumb molded top, exposed dovetails, iron lock, cotter pin hinges, base molding and shoe feet. Red wash over heart pine wood. All original. 14" high, 23 1/4" wide, 11 5/8" deep. Price: On Request.

Pine Corner Cupboard, New England, c. 1790

Open-top corner cupboard with wave-line opening and scroll top surrounded by a molded edge. Exterior is unpainted, inside is robin's egg blue. The shaped shelves served to showcase the family's polished pewter while provisions and ordinary ware were stored behind the single recessed panel door, with butterfly hinges, below. This type of cupboard was typically used in the keeping room. 78 1/4" high, 49" wide. Price: SOLD

Queen Anne Highboy, North Shore Massachusetts, probably Essex, 18th Century

This nicely proportioned maple highboy has a rich warm patina and diminutive size. Circa 1750. Cabriole legs. Nicely shaped skirt with acorn drops. Deep amber, figured, mellow finish. Height - 67", Width - 34 1/2”, Depth - 18 1/2”.

Pair of Queen Anne Painted Side Chairs, New England, Last Half 18th Century

The molded scroll-carved crest rails above raking vasiform splats and molded stiles on trapezoidal rush seats. Frontal block, vase, and ring-turned legs ending in carved Spanish feet joined to the raking rear legs by turned stretchers. Old red-brown surface. Height 42", seat height 18". SOLD

Chippendale Maple Slant-Lid Desk, Connecticut, c. 1780

A classic example of a period slant-lid desk having four graduated drawers and straight bracket feet. Gallery features valenced pigeon holes above fitted drawers. Desirable 36” case. Gateleg Table, American, 18th Century

Sheraton card table with rounded corners, reeded legs, and ringed “feet”. Rosewood, holly and mahogany veneer. Mahogany with maple rail and pine frame. Old or original finish. Price: On Request.

Scallop-Top Candlestand, New Hampshire, Late 18th/Early 19th Century

Maple or birch top. Reverse curve tripod base supports turned baluster and urn pedestal. Slender slipper foot. Drop pendant on base. Price: $1,100.

Black painted maple and ash corner chair with turned posts and legs joined together by turned double stretchers. Rosehead nails. Old black surface over original salmon. Price: $1,850.
